| Jenn and Mike's Vermont House |
| a quick tour inside |
 | Welcome to our house! come on inside. We're standing on the deck now and just inside these doors is the dining area. To the left when you walk thru these doors is the kitchen. |
| Above is a view of the main room which includes the living room and dining room, and it's where all the huge windows are. We are changing the cornices above the windows. They were peach fabric over metal, but I hate peach, so they are becoming stained pine. Mike knows how to do this stuff, I am learning. The front windows are done but I have no picture yet. These pictures show unstained pine next to peach fabric. Picking out stain to match was VERY hard, but I like it sooo much better. | |
 | On the wall opposite the huge windows is the kithen entrance, shelves, and the fireplace. The picture to the left is the shelf Mike and I made to replace the 2 shelves that were there (shown below). We moved the couch and removed one chair to Jersey City.
I'll keep adding pictures to show the layout better, it's hard to imagine now.
| The yellow things against the shelf are snurfers - original snowboards from 1965 or 66. Thanks Grampa, if you hadn't saved them in the garage I wouldn't have them now! Notice the little cow plant stand next to the chair. I figured it would make a cute stand for a glass since we don't have a table there. Mike enjoys trying to count all the cows in the house but hey it's Vermont, there's supposed to be cows there! |
 | The Kitchen - there are several cows in the kitchen - my Woody Jackson wood cutout, the wall clock Gramma gave me years ago, the kitchen mat, potholders, soap dispenser, and magnets. The tea kettle was a cow but it leaked and the curtains have chickens on them. The kitchen had a lot of blue in it, same color as the couches, which I did not think was right for VT. We still have to paint over where the blue border had been and eventually we will redo the floor, but that is low on the priority list. |
| Past the refrigerator and to the right are the guest accomodations. To see these pictures click here. Straight past the refrigerator through the doorway is the master bedroom and bathroom. | |
the master bathroom |
| The master bathroom is immediately to the left when you walk thru the bedroom door. The picture on the left is diagonal so you can see the neat brown 70's style shower curtain and the rug toilet seat. Cows in this room include soap dispenser and scrup sponge. How about the view from this window? It's filled with fall colors in this picture that happen to match the decor (notice the pictures on the wall, they are autumn country house scenes)! |
 | The master bedroom - I didn't take any "before" pictures of this room because I disliked it so much. The lamps were peach and so were the bedspread and pictures above the bed. We bought a new quilt, the lamps are from a consignment shop, and I made the Woody Jackson pictures from an old 1990 calendar - good thing I saved all my stuff!
By the way - Woody Jackson is the artist that does the Ben & Jerry's cows, for all you who had no clue why I mention him. |
